Bengo4.com, Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Taichiro Motoe, Representative Director, President and CEO, Lawyer; hereinafter, the “Company”) is pleased to announce the publication of its 20th anniversary commemorative book, The World Is made of Laws: The Struggles and Future of Bengo4.com (by Taichiro Motoe and Toru Uesaka), tracing the company’s 20-year journey of challenges and evolutionary progress since its founding. The book will be released on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
The book tells the story of people encouraged and empowered by the law, striving to make the world a better place through it. It chronicles how the one-of-a-kind venture company Bengo4.com, Inc., came to be, its beliefs, and the direction in which it is heading. Over eight years of operating at a loss, the decision to transform the business, organizational conflicts, and the numerous failures and challenges behind its growth—all are brought vividly to life through the testimonies of over twenty key figures.

Taichiro Motoe
Lawyer, Representative Director, President and CEO of Bengo4.com, Inc.
1975: Born in Chicago, USA. Graduated from Keio University’s Faculty of Law. 1999: Passed the bar examination. 2001: Joined Anderson Mori & Tomotsune Foreign Law Joint Enterprise. 2005: Became independent and established Authense Law Firm and Bengo4.com, Inc. 2014: Led Bengo4.com to its listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the first in Japan to do so as a lawyer. 2016: Ran as an official candidate for the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in the Chiba Prefecture constituency in the election for the House of Councillors, and was successfully elected. 2017: Became Chairman of Bengo4.com. 2020-: Served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Finance in Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga’s Cabinet. 2022: Returned to serve as President and CEO of Bengo4.com upon completing his term as a member of the House of Councillors. December 2025: Bengo4.com was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market (market change). His publications include Bengo4.com: Our Challenge to Help Those in Need (Nikkei BP) and Succeeding with Side Hustles (Shinchosha).
Toru Uesaka

1966: Born in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. 1989: Graduated from Waseda University’s School of Commerce. 1994: Became a freelance writer after working at World and the Recruit Group. He writes extensively for magazines, books, and web media on topics including management, finance, venture businesses, and employment, and conducts various interviews. He has interviewed over 3,000 people to date. He has written over 100 books. Cumulative sales of the books he has worked on exceed 2 million copies.
