Bengo4.com, Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Taichiro Motoe; hereafter “the Company”) is pleased to announce that it has released the cited precedent link function for the Bengoshi.com LIBRARY®︎ legal research service for lawyers provided by the Company for searching law books and journals. Realized in linkage with Hanreihisho from LIC Co., Ltd., the new function allows users to quickly view nearly 200,000 precedents cited in law books. With this collaboration-based function as a starter, the Company will increase the group synergy.

■ Cited precedent link function
The cited precedent link function associates data on around 200,000 precedents from among the huge volume of precedent data covered by Hanreihisho with precedents cited in law books that can be viewed on Bengoshi.com LIBRARY®︎ to enable users to reach precedents from books. This function has opened the way for efficient research for books and precedents and has helped substantially shorten the time involved in legal research. In addition, it prevents search errors caused by differences in style of notation or descriptions of precedents, which vary from book to book. This means that users can enjoy greater precision in their legal research.  * Viewing details of precedents requires a subscription to Hanreihisho.

■ Method for use
The book view screen of Bengoshi.com LIBRARY®︎ displays a list of precedents cited in books.
A click on your desired precedent in the list will bring you to Hanreihisho and shows you details of the precedent.

■ What is Bengoshi.com LIBRARY®︎?   https://library.bengo4.com/about
Bengoshi.com LIBRARY®︎ is a legal research service featuring AI-based natural language processing to allow users to search at least 2,400 law books*1 by key word and to view desired books. In addition to the capability for viewing books, the service also supports greater business efficiency by providing more than 4,000*2 contract and agreement templates in word format.
*1: As of July 2024  *2: Around 3,600 templates in publications and around 400 of the Company’s own original templates as of July 2024. The originals are only available to use upon subscription to Bengoshi.com Business System.

■ About LIC Co., Ltd. and Hanreihisho   https://www.hanreihisho.com/
LIC Co., Ltd. provides the Hanreihisho database of precedents and other services and holds an overwhelming market share. Since its establishment in 1996, it has made a significant contribution to the digitalization of the legal community, earning strong trust and an excellent brand reputation. In October 2023, it joined the group led by Bengo4.com Inc. As a company in the Group, it will produce synergy and expand its services.
A feature of Hanreihisho is that it not only offers a mere precedent search function, but allows users to quickly view information related to precedents. In addition, it offers a wealth of functions that deliver convenience for users. They include the cloud-based Electronic Archive, which organizes and stores important data discoveries, the Archive of Current Laws and Regulations, which enables users to view provisions of laws and regulations by designating the month and the year, and the Hanreihisho Journal, Japan’s first full-scale juridical journal.
