Bengo4.com Launches "Bengo4.com HOTLINE (Beta)", Japan's First Service Connecting Clients and Lawyers via Voice AI

Bengo4.com, Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Taichiro Motoe, Representative Director, President and CEO, Lawyer; hereinafter, “the Company”) is pleased to announce the launch of "Bengo4.com HOTLINE (Beta)," a service that utilizes voice AI to allow users to find a lawyer with a single phone call.

■ Background of the Service Launch 
In Japan, the population aged 65 and over has currently reached 29.3%, and this figure is projected to rise to 33.3% by 2037 (*1). As the elderly population grows, a major concern is the digital divide between generations. Smartphone usage rates drop significantly as age increases: 78.8% for people in their 60s, 53.0% for those in their 70s, and 18.7% for those aged 80 and over (*2). The number of elderly people unfamiliar with digital technology is expected to expand further in the future.
In today's world, where gathering information via the Internet has become the norm, this digital divide directly connects to various risks in daily life. While the elderly are particularly prone to facing legal issues such as inheritance and consumer troubles, the means of finding a lawyer have also largely shifted online. For elderly individuals with limited digital access, the hurdle to reaching necessary legal support has become even higher. As a result, there is a possibility that the support they should rightfully receive is not adequately reaching them.
To solve these issues and eliminate the disparity in access to justice, the Company has operated "Bengo4.com," a legal consultation portal site connecting clients and lawyers, with the mission of making experts more accessible since its foundation. Furthermore, in May 2023, we launched the AI legal consultation chat service "Bengo4.com Chat Legal Consultation" (*3), realizing a new form of access to justice utilizing AI.
The newly launched "Bengo4.com HOTLINE (Beta)" utilizing voice AI is Japan's first (*4) service that seamlessly provides information on lawyers meeting the consultation criteria and transfers the call to a law firm, all through a single phone call.
By leveraging technology, we will promote the realization of a society where everyone, regardless of their IT literacy, can access justice equally when needed.

"Bengo4.com HOTLINE (Beta)" is Japan's first (*4) service utilizing voice AI that seamlessly provides information on lawyers matching the consultation criteria and transfers the call to a law firm with just one phone call. By simply calling a dedicated number and speaking with the AI, the system identifies the field of consultation, selects, and proposes lawyers handling the relevant trouble in the desired area. Furthermore, if the client wishes, the call can be transferred directly to the law firm.
Leveraging a portion of our database containing approximately 1.5 million cumulative legal consultations, the Company offers a new experience shifting from "searching for a lawyer oneself on the web" to "letting AI search just by making a phone call."
